Charts are very useful in a large number of situations. For example, they are useful for displaying the evolution of profit in a company or for showing the evolution of the stock market. Either way, they are good at comparing various values or displaying the modifications of parameters over time. Even though, there are numerous applications that can generate various types of charts, but many of them don't have what it takes to create a professional chart that can be used in a large company. Fortunately, there is a software that has all a user needs in terms of charts, and that's JFreeChart.

The software doesn't need installing; the user only has to extract the program's archive and run the JAR file. The Java plugin is required for running this application and can be easily downloaded from the Java website.

The interface is basic and very easy to use. It features numerous types of charts that can be thoroughly modified using the user's values. The user can change the chart caption name, the font and the colors. After finishing editing the plot, he can save it as a PDF file. Each chart supports themes, which completely changes the way it appears.

The software is open source and its source code may be thoroughly modified, still this is not recommended to be done by a beginner, as he may cause the software to malfunction.

Besides including various types of charts, JFreeChart can also display the memory consumption as a real time plot.
